Professional & Performance Trained Wedding Harpist Available

Hello

I’m Sophie and I’am a professional flutist who graduated from Trinity Laban Conservatoire of Music and Dance with an honors degree in performance 2015. My passion to play the flute came from watching James Galway on T.V at the age of 10 and asking my parents if I could just be like him and that is exactly what I went on to do.

More about Sophie

Sophie’s musical career kicked off at the age of 10 where she learnt to play the flute at Riddlesworth Hall School in (Norfolk). Sophie’s natural flare to play the flute developed quickly only taking 3 graded examinations and then gaining her ATCL Diploma with distinction at just the age of 16. Sophie then gained a music scholarship at Woodbridge School (Suffolk) and also gaining a place at Junior Trinity for 5 years where Thea Cramp taught her. Whilst being at Junior Trinity Sophie played in many duos and ensembles then going on to play 1st in the symphony orchestra.

Sophie then furthered her studies by gaining a place at Senior Trinity for 4 years under Anna Pope for flute, Alan Baker and Christopher Green for piccolo. Whilst being at Senior Trinity, Sophie took part in master classes with renowned flautists such as Anna Noakes, Susan Milan, Karen Jones and Paul Edmund- Davis (just to name a few!) Sophie took part in many ensembles including flute and harp and then playing in a sextet as well as recording for Naxos with the wind band and playing in symphony orchestra.

Whilst doing all this Sophie has toured in Malaysia twice with the SNYSB (South Norfolk Youth Symphonic Band) to help raise money for the tsunami back in 2004 giving concerts and workshops. Sophie has also had the great pleasure working along side Her Majesty’s Military Bands for several years being principal flute. One of Sophie’s musical highlights of her career so far is playing in the BYO (Barbican Young Orchestra) under Sir Colin Davis as the conductor.

Sophie also had the pleasure working along side the LCO with a school, to teach young children who would of never of got the opportunity to have music lessons, Sophie taught 8 children the basics of the flute over a series of weeks.

Now being back in Norfolk after her years of training in London as a performer and orchestral player, Sophie is back to teach like minded people who have a passion for music and so she can provide outstanding teaching to any age range and ability.

Sophie’s musical talent doesn’t just stop at playing the flute; she also learnt to play the harp under Frances Kelly at Junior Trinity. With flute being her main instrument Sophie continued to practice and have regular lessons with Frances so she plays at weddings, funerals or any other special events.
